Las hermanas Mirabal :\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Patria, Minerva y Mar\u00eda Teresa Mirabal <\/em><\/strong>fueron tres hermanas y activistas pol\u00edticas que combatieron contra el r\u00e9gimen de Rafael Le\u00f3nidas Trujillo <\/em>(1930-1961) en la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana. <\/em><\/p>\n

Las tres mujeres regresaban a casa despu\u00e9s de visitar a los maridos de dos de ellas en la c\u00e1rcel de Puerto Plata cuando fueron interceptadas por agentes del Servicio de Inteligencia Militar (SIM) del r\u00e9gimen de Trujillo.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cLas mariposas\u201d<\/strong>, como se les conoc\u00eda en el ‘Movimiento Patri\u00f3tico 14 de <\/em>julio\u201d en el que militaban,\u00a0fueron encarceladas, violadas, torturadas y finalmente asesinadas\u00a0el 25 de noviembre de 1960.<\/em><\/p>\n

De esta forma, estas tres mujeres nacidas en el seno de una familia acomodada, con carreras universitarias, casadas y con hijas e hijos, se convirtieron en el\u00a0s\u00edmbolo de la lucha contra la violencia machista.<\/em><\/p>\n

El 25 de noviembre fue declarado D\u00eda Internacional contra la Violencia hacia la mujer en el Primer Encuentro Feminista de Latinoam\u00e9rica y del Caribe <\/strong>celebrado en Bogot\u00e1 (Colombia) en julio de 1981.<\/em><\/p>\n

En 1999, la ONU dio car\u00e1cter oficial a esta fecha.<\/em><\/p>\n

La violencia contra mujeres y ni\u00f1as es una de las violaciones de los derechos humanos m\u00e1s extendidas, persistentes y devastadoras del mundo actual sobre las que apenas se informa debido a la impunidad de la cual disfrutan los perpetradores, y el silencio, la estigmatizaci\u00f3n y la verg\u00fcenza que sufren las v\u00edctimas.\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n

En forma general, la violencia se manifiesta de forma f\u00edsica, sexual y psicol\u00f3gica e incluye:<\/em><\/p>\n

    \n
  • violencia por un compa\u00f1ero sentimental (violencia f\u00edsica, maltrato psicol\u00f3gico, violaci\u00f3n conyugal, femicidio);<\/em><\/li>\n
  • violencia sexual y acoso (violaci\u00f3n, actos sexuales forzados, insinuaciones sexuales no deseadas, abuso sexual infantil, matrimonio forzado, acecho, acoso callejero, acoso cibern\u00e9tico);<\/em><\/li>\n
  • trata de seres humanos (esclavitud, explotaci\u00f3n sexual);<\/em><\/li>\n
  • mutilaci\u00f3n genital;<\/em><\/li>\n
  • matrimonio infantil.\u00bb\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
